On May 14, the President of the RA National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan received Deborah Grieser, Mission Director of the US Agency for International Development (USAID)/Armenia.

During the meeting new opportunities of bilateral cooperation and the ways of effective implementation were discussed.

Ararat Mirzoyan highlighted the mission of the US Agency for International Development in Armenia, highly assessing the level of cooperation formed with the structure. According to him, the assistance programs implemented by the USAID in different spheres in Armenia for more than twenty years registered tangible results. The NA President mentioned the effective cooperation within the framework of the elections held in Armenia, and now the assistance programs to the parliament.

The Head of the legislative body presented his vision of cooperation with the international partner organizations, particularly touched upon the programs being carried out with the National Assembly of Armenia by the National Democratic Institute (NDI), the International Republican Institute (IRI) and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES). In this context he emphasized the implementation of the programs based on the needs assessment implemented by the National Assembly.

Deborah Grieser presented the current programs, noting that the programs being carried out with the National Assembly by the National Democratic Institute and the International Republican Institute are flexible and give opportunity to comply them with pre-indicated needs by the NA. The USAID Mission Director also attached importance to the initiative ability and leadership of the President of the National Assembly in the coordination of the international partners' efforts.

The sides expressed readiness to debate the problems of bilateral agenda and in that aspect intensify the meetings between them.
